The Rising
It is a simple rising in the River Tar, no overhead environment seen as yet, though further exploration may be done to be sure. But it does have some of the clearest (best visibility) water in Ireland. The basin of water (10m x 7m approx) has much plant life, and therefore mung. So, it doesn't take much diver movement to lose the beautiful visibility. The depth is shallow at only 4m,so much care is needed.
To get to the rising, you need to walk along the edge of a private field. When we were there, the field have been sown with corn just a couple of days earlier. The landowner lives in the house about 200m along the road (going with the field from the gate) on the other side of the road. Please do seek permission first before entering the land.
Walk along the left edge of the field and at the bottom of the ploughed section, you come across the river and the pool.

If you go to this rising, then a short walk along the river brings you to a small, but pretty cavern filled with this clear water. The walk is worth it to get to Pollatar
How To Get There
(Directions by Arthur Kozlowski)
Directions while going from Thurles to Ardifinnan. I hope it makes some sense and will prove to be useful.
You cross the bridge in Ardifinnan, road turns right and goes more or less along the river. Few hundred meters after the bridge you take the road to your left which goes fairy steeply uphill. It's sign posted to Goat Bridge. Stick to the main road ( I know it's easy to say) that after few miles should lead you Goat Bridge on river Tar. But what you need is actually to turn right just few hundreds meters BEFORE the bridge. You follow this road for about mile until you spot disused and overgrown path on your left hand side. In last two centuries this path used to lead to the spring.
