Description and history of diving
Bridge Sink 1
River sink on the left bank 10 m upstream from the Marlbank Road bridge. In low water it sinks in boulders, in high water it also sinks in slot to the side. In low water the water can be followed to a deep, undived sump pool.
Bank Sink
A new sinkhole opening up in the river, 20 m upstream of Bridge Sink 1 on the right bank. No opening as yet.

Bridge Sink 1

On the previous evening (14-04-09) a flake of rock in the entrance to the slot was removed.
Wearing drysuit and with 3 L and 2 L bottles the Bridge Sink slot was entered feet-first. With some squeezing and carefully un-snagging the drysuit from projections the slot was bottomed at approximately 2 m. The way on was felt to be low on the left, slightly wider but requiring some contortions to enter. Drysuit not really suitable as it kept snagging on rocky projections.
Bank Sink

No obvious way on was found, the sides and bottom consisting of boulders, clay and soil. Some boulders were moved, but nothing of interest was found.
